Way Kuo is President and University Distinguished Professor of City University of Hong Kong. Professor Kuo is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering, Academia Sinica in Taiwan, and International Academy for Quality. He is also a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

 

Before joining CityU, Professor Kuo was University Distinguished Professor and Dean of Engineering at the University of Tennessee. Previously, Kuo held the Wisenbaker Chair of Engineering in Innovation and was the head of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M University managing both the industrial and biomedical engineering programs. The NRC - Research Doctoral Programs and U.S. News & World Report both ranked the department under his leadership among the best in the US. Kuo has previously held appointment as a Fulbright Scholar and worked for Bell Laboratories.

 

As a recipient of the IEEE Reliability Society Lifetime Achievement Award and many other honors and awards, Professor Kuo is renowned for his work in designing and modeling reliability for electronics systems and products. He is also known for promoting the curriculum of relevance to the societal needs and problems-oriented research.

 

An author and co-author of nine books on reliability, education and nuclear safety, he currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Reliability. He received the PhD degree in engineering in 1980 from Kansas State University and the BS degree in nuclear engineering in 1972 from National Tsing-Hua University.

 

郭位，小名椅子，現為香港城市大學校長﹑大學傑出教授。郭教授為美國國家工程院院士、台灣中央研究院院士、及國際品質學院院士，也是中國工程院外籍院士。

 

郭教授同時為國立交通大學﹑國立臺灣大學﹑北京航空航天大學﹑西安交通大學﹑上海交通大學﹑及中南大学名譽教授。此外，他也為國立清華大學國聯光電講座及北京清華大學運籌學講座。

 

加入城大前，郭教授擔任田納西大學榮譽講座教授及工學院院長﹑橡樹園國家實驗室管理團隊。之前，任教於德州農工大學系統，為準副總校長、Wisenbaker講座、並曾接掌工業工程系主任之職務、管理工業工程與生物醫學工程。在開始學術生涯前，郭教授在貝爾實驗室擔任電子可靠度專家的職務。

 

郭教授在電子產品及系統可靠度研究方面享有盛名，獲頒IEEE可靠度終身成就獎。他以社會需要及問題導向研究為本推動大學教育，廣受尊崇，獲獎無數。

 

郭教授是九部可靠度研究、教育研究與核安全專著的作者及合著者，目前並擔任IEEE Transactions on Reliability的主編。 郭教授於1980年取得美國堪薩斯州大工程學博士學位，1972年取得台灣國立清華大學核子工程學士學位。
