Professor Xue Qi-Kun
, a member of the
Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered the latest installment in the City
University Distinguished Lecture Series on 25 September titled “Physics beyond
Professor Xue argued that the realisation of
superconductivity and the quantum anomalous Hall effect at temperatures above the
boiling temperature for liquid nitrogen, and particularly at around room
temperature, may trigger the next industrial revolution.
Professor Xue works at the Department of
Physics at Tsinghua University. He was elected to the Chinese Academy of
Sciences in 2005 and became the Vice-President at Tsinghua University in 2013.
