Highly inspiring work created by students from the School of Creative Media (SCM) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is being showcased at the “Playful Media 2017” exhibition from 21 June to 4 July.
The 40 student projects on show express uniquely creative ideas in animation, games, installations, photography and graphics. While some projects integrate new technology with rich Hong Kong cultural characteristics, some explore topics such as the relationship between humans and nature, social issues and family love.
Officiating guests at the opening ceremony on 22 June were Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, Professor Richard Allen, Dean of SCM, Mr Yim Chun-pang, Programme Leader of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Creative Media programme, and Mr Gabriel Pang Tsz-kit, Chairman of Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association.
Playful Media 2017, now in its 11th year, is presented as one of the HKSAR’s 20th Anniversary celebration events. This year’s theme is “Chicken & Egg” because creation completes its never-ending cycle, as the chicken-and-egg question, by stimulating streams of innovative ideas among SCM students.
This annual exhibition, organised by the Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Creative Media programme, provides a platform for students to put to work the skills and knowledge that they have learnt in their courses and to present their work to the general public. The Dr Peter Ching Yin Lee Memorial Fund was one of the sponsors of this year’s exhibition.
