Local reporters were updated on the latest developments at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) by Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, during a special reception at Chinese New Year.
Joined by members of the senior management team, Professor Kuo also introduced CityU’s new floral emblem, the Brazil bougainvillea.
In addition to the pursuit of academic achievements in recent years, CityU was also dedicated to the development of culture and the arts, he said.
Over the past two years, CityU has held several new media art exhibitions promoting traditional culture and organised the City Art Festival for two consecutive years. The Arts Festival includes Chinese and Western concerts and musicals starring students.
Professor Kuo also discussed plans to re-develop the existing site of the Sports Centre. The planned for 10- to 12-storey building would be financed through self-financing, he said.
The media was also briefed on admissions to the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine programme in the School of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to the veterinary clinic, CityU plans to acquire teaching facilities, including a farm.
