Christmas Concert 2016: ‘My Heart Shall Rejoice’

Seasonal melodies filled the evening air at the CityU Christmas Concert at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 16 December.
 
The concert titled “My Heart Shall Rejoice” drew hundreds of faculty, staff and students to Wong Cheung Lo Hui Yuet Hall at Lau Ming Wai Academic Building. The event was organised by Student Development Services (SDS) and the Cultural and Sports Committee.
 
Professor Horace Ip Ho-shing, Vice-President (Student Affairs), shared in the early Christmas celebrations with the audience.
 
The two-hour concert featured the CityU Philharmonic Orchestra, CityU Chinese Orchestra, CityU SU Christian Choir, CityU Concert Singers and the CityU Choir.

An enthusiastic chorus ended the concert.
 
The programme opened with Greensleeves performed by the CityU Philharmonic Orchestra, and there was a selection of Christmas-themed songs from around the world, including African Noël, Salsa Noël and the ever-popular White Christmas, among others.
 
As our in-house tenor, Dr Wong Chi-tim, Director of SDS, performed two songs in the concert namely The Lord’s Prayer and La Danza (The Dance).
 
An enthusiastic chorus of A Merry Christmas by the CityU Choir ended the concert with all participants looking forward to 2017.
